Royal Canadian Navy Selects ECM Payload for USV

Royal Canadian Navy USVElbit Systems has announced that it has been selected by Rheinmetall Canada to provide an off-board Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) payload for the Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) Hammerhead Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). The USVs are being equipped with the payloads as part of the RCN’s Naval Off-Board Anti-Missile Active Decoy (NOMAD) Program, which aims to develop jamming capabilities against anti-ship missile threats. Rheinmetall Canada is the prime contractor on the project.

Pietro Mazzei, Vice President, Electronic Solutions – C4ISTAR of Rheinmetall Canada Inc., commented: “The Naval Offboard anti-Missile Active Decoy (NOMAD) system is a state of the art Electronic Attack payload integrated onto an unmanned surface vessel for remote anti-ship missile defence operations. Rheinmetall Canada is pleased to have selected Elbit Systems as its ECM provider.”
